The Last Supper
The institution of the Eucharist, the washing of the feet, and love to the very end.
Preparatory prayer
Ask God our Lord for the grace that all my intentions, actions and works may be directed purely to the service and praise of his Divine Majesty.
Composition of place
See Christ our Lord and his apostles seated at table in the upper room.
Petition
Sorrow, grief and confusion, because the Lord goes to his passion for my sins.
Points
- See how they eat the Passover lamb, and how the Lord tells them of his coming death.
- Watch him wash the apostles’ feet, giving them an example of humility and service.
- Contemplate how he institutes the most holy sacrifice of the Eucharist, giving his whole self as food and drink.
- Listen to his farewell discourse, full of love and comfort, promising the Holy Spirit.
Colloquy
Speak with Christ our Lord about what my heart feels at so much humility and so much love, and how I should respond.
