The Road to Emmaus

Ask God our Lord for the grace that all my intentions, actions and works may be directed purely to the service and praise of his Divine Majesty.

See the road from Jerusalem to Emmaus, and the two disciples walking along it, downcast.

Ask for the grace to rejoice and delight in the living presence of the risen Christ.

1. See how he joins the disciples as they walk, sad and afraid, talking about what has happened.
2. See how he rebukes them for being slow to believe, and explains to them in all the Scriptures what was said of him.
3. See how he acts as if to go further, but they press him to stay: “Stay with us.”
4. See how he makes himself known in the breaking of the bread, and how they realise their hearts were burning while he spoke to them.
